Assemble pressure control valve (1) by using the following procedure:Note: Step 3.a is the assembly procedure for the spools for the valve.
Install the following components in spool (38) :
Ball (48)
Spring (47)
Retainer (46)
Snap ring (45)
Position the four stops in the valve body. Then install four dowels (30) if it was necessary to remove the stops.

Valve (A) is for the No. 3 clutch. Valve (B) is for the No. 6 clutch. Valve (C) is for the No. 4 clutch. Valve (D) is for the No. 5 clutch. Valve (E) is for the No. 8 clutch. Valve (F) is for the No. 2 clutch. Valve (G) is for the No. 7 clutch. Valve (H) is for the No. 1 clutch. Use the same disassembly procedure for each pressure control valve.
Do not mix the components between the valves when you assemble the components.
Install slug (37) in spool (38) .
Install spring (36), spool (38), and stop (40) in the valve body.
Install the following components in piston load body (33) .
O-ring seals (43)
Orifice (42)
Spring (41)
Plugs (44) Note: The center plug of plugs (44) has a screen on the plug. There is no center plug (44) in valve (E) .
Make sure that the O-ring seals are in position on plugs (44). Install the plugs in load piston body (33) .
Install the shims inside load piston (31). Install load piston (31) in selector piston (32) .
Install outer springs (39) in load piston (31) .
Install selector piston (32) in load piston body (33). Install load piston body (33) on the valve body. Install the two socket head bolts that hold the load piston body in position.
Install the O-ring seal on dowel (34). Install dowel (34) in the pressure control valve body.
Install the O-ring seal on two plugs (29). Install the two plugs in pressure control valve (1) .

Assemble modulating valve (5) by using the following procedure:
Install the following components in piston (22) :
Ball (21)
Spring (20)
Retainer (10)
Adapter (9)
Ring (19)
Install reducing valve slug (8) in piston (22). Install piston (22) in valve body (12) .
Install O-ring seal
