Start By:a. remove cylinder head assembly
Typical Example1. Position the cylinder head assembly on its side as shown.2. Using Tooling (A), compress valve springs (3). Remove retainer locks (1). Remove Tooling (A), rotocoil assembly (2) and springs (3). Repeat the procedure; then remove springs (5) and base (6). Remove valve (4).3. Repeat Step 2 for the remainder of the valves. The following steps are for the installation of the valves. 4. Lubricate valves (4) with clean engine oil. Install the valves in the cylinder head.
The retainer locks can be thrown from the valve when the spring compressor is released if they are not in their correct position on the valve stem. To prevent possible personal injury, keep away from the front of the valve retainer locks and valve springs during installation of the valves.
A small amount of grease can be used to hold the retainer locks in position during installation.5. Position base (6) valve springs (3) and rotocoil (2) on the valve stem. Using Tooling (A), compress valve springs (3); then install retainer locks (1).6. Repeat Step 5 to install the remainder of valves (4).End By:a. install cylinder head assembly
