Procedure To Install New 7U7345 Flanged Bushings And Solid Tailgate Stops
Refer to the appropriate Service Manual Module for the correct disassembly and assembly procedures.1. With the engine at low idle, raise the dump body until the tailgate is fully open. Then engage FLOAT to lower the body without closing tailgate.2. Remove link (1). See Illustration 1.

Provide suitable protection for the rear frame and tailgate cylinder. Lower the cylinder onto the frame.5. Use an 8T7792 Mini Cutting Torch or equivalent tool to remove stops (3). See Illustration 2. D250B and D300B Trucks have two stops while the other trucks have six stops.
Illustration 2. Linkage disconnected on D350C, D350D, D400, and D400D Trucks.6. Fabricate the new stops from high strength structural steel as shown in Illustration 3. Two new stops are required for D250B and D300B Trucks, and all the other trucks require six new stops.
Illustration 3. Dimensions for new stops.7. Either, install the new sideplates with the flanged bushings, or reworked former sideplates with new flanged bushings. The former sideplates, removed in Step 2, can be reworked to accept the new 7U7345 Flange Bushings as shown in Illustration 4. Install the tailgate lift cylinder and link (1) in the new or reworked sideplates.

Steps 9 through 14 are for D350C, D350D, D400, and D400D Trucks only. For D250B and D350 Trucks, proceed to Step 15. Use AWSE7018 electrode or an equivalent for the welding in this procedure.9. With the engine at low idle, raise the dump body until the tailgate is fully open. Then engage FLOAT to lower the body without closing tailgate.10. Position two new stops (4) (fabricated in Step 4) in contact with the tailgate, and two stops (5) in contact with sideplates (2). See Illustration 5. Mark the location of new stops (4) and (5).

Put new stops (4) and (5) in position 2 mm (.1") toward the rear of their marked location. Fully weld stops (4) and (5) in place. This ensures that the sideplates and tailgate contact the stops positively the tailgate is lowered.12. With the tailgate closed, position two stops (6) in contact with the top of the tailgate, and mark their location. See Illustration 6.
Illustration 6. Tailgate closed on D350C, D350D, D400, and D400D Trucks.13. Open the tailgate. Put stops (6) in position 2 mm (.1") lower than their marked location. Fully weld stops (6) in place. This ensures that the tailgate contacts the stops positively when the tailgate is closed.14. Thoroughly clean the welded areas and paint as required. Steps 15 through 18 are for D250B and D300B Trucks only.15. Open the tailgate until bottom edge (A) of the tailgate contacts both side plates (2). See
