Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Stop the engine.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".

Main pump compartment (1) Case drain hose (2) Fitting (case drain filter)
Disconnect case drain hose (1) from fitting (2) on the case drain filter.
Install 6V-9832 Cap As on fitting (2) .
Connect one end of the remote drain hose to case drain hose (1). Place the other end of remote drain hose into the container in order to measure the case drain oil.
Start the engine.
Place the engine speed dial at position "10" and AEC switch OFF. Maintain the maximum no-load speed at 1860 50 rpm.Reference: Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Engine Performance - Test" for engine rpm settings.
Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° 5°C (131° 9°F).
Perform the following steps in order to measure the case drain for two pump flow.
Move the joystick for the boom until the boom is at the full BOOM RAISE position. Hold the joystick for the boom in this position for one minute.
Return the joystick to the NEUTRAL position.
Measure the amount of case drain oil.
Perform the following steps in order to measure the case drain oil for the right pump.
Move the joystick for the bucket until the bucket is at the full BUCKET CLOSE position. Hold the joystick for the bucket in this position for one minute.
Return the joystick to the NEUTRAL position.
Measure the amount of case drain oil.
Perform the following steps in order to measure the case drain oil for the left pump.

Pilot manifold (3) Connector (4) Solenoid valve for swing parking brake
Disconnect connector (3) from the solenoid valve for swing parking brake (4) .
Slowly move the swing joystick and make sure that the swing parking brake is activated.
Move the swing joystick fully for one minute.
Return the joystick to the NEUTRAL position.
Measure the amount of case drain oil.
Connect connector (3) to the solenoid valve for swing parking brake (4) .Note: Repeat the test procedures three times in order to obtain three measurements.Case drain pressure normal ... 100 kPa (14.5 psi) peak pressure ... 150 kPa (21.8 psi)The following values specify the maximum acceptable flow of case drain oil at 35000 kPa (5076 psi) pump discharge pressure. one pump ... 17.3 L/min (4.57 US gpm) two pump ... 26.0 L/min (6.87 US gpm)Note: The temperature of the case
