Information:
In Order To Put The End Collar Puller Into Service:
THE ILLUSTRATION SHOWS A POSSIBLE WORK FLOW SYSTEM WHICH INCLUDES THE ROLLER BUFFER AND THE DIP TANK. YOUR WORK FLOW SHOULD BE SET UP TO SATISFY YOUR SPECIAL NEEDS.1. Level the unit using the adjustment bolts on the legs.2. Connect your power supply to the mounting table (item 36 on page 7). Attach properly rated hydraulic hoses from the power supply to the ports on the cylinder.3. Have a qualified electrician make the proper electrical hookup to the power supply.4. Fill the power supply reservoir with the lubricant recommended by the power unit manufacturer. Extend and retract the ram to clear air from the system and then top off the reservoir.5. Place a container on the shelf under the drain plug to act as a catch pan for oil from the disassembled rollers.Maintenance
1. Lube the worm gear on the screw jack once a week.2. Keep the sliding block bearing plates greased.3. Replace the hydraulic oil as necessary.Operational Instructions
Pre-Welding Inspection Of Crawler Tractor Rollers
Pre-Cleaning Of Parts:
1. Rollers coming in to the rebuild shop from the field will normally be covered with hardpacked dirt. Before any other operation is performed on them, they must undergo a cleaning process to remove the major portion of dirt and grit.2. Once the rollers have been pre-cleaned, they should be placed in the Roller Buffer to remove the fine particles of dirt from the critical areas (running surfaces) on the roller shell.End Collar Removal:
1. Place the roller on the worktable. Use an overhead jib assembly with an appropriate lifting device to place the roller on the sliding worktable.2. Remove the retaining rings from the end collars.3. Slide the roller towards the cylinder and adjust the cylinder height until it is centered on the roller shaft.4. Using the tool identification chart on page 15, pick the appropriate hub puller arms and locking pins and attach them to the mounting blocks on either side of the cylinder assembly.5. Slip the open ends of the puller arms over the holes in the end collar and secure with the properly sized pins. ON SMALLER SIZED ROLLERS, USE THE RAM EXTENSION (P.N. 72140000) TO AVOID SCUFFING THE CYLINDER RAM ON THE I.D. OF THE END COLLAR SHAFT.
KEEP HANDS CLEAR OF THE PRESSING AREA WHEN THE RAM IS IN OPERATION.
6. Extend the ram (making sure that the ram and roller shaft are centered) until the end collar pulls free of the roller shell and shaft assembly.7. Once the collar has been freed, retract the ram, disengage the puller arms and rotate the table so that the second end collar may be removed with the same pressing sequence.8. Remove the seals.9. Check the clearance between the bushings and the shaft O.D. A. If clearance is less than required, remove the roller and its components from the End Coller Puller and send it to the Roller/Idler Press for complete disassembly. The Roller's bushings should now be honed to achieve the required minimum
