Approved housing cleaners - Isopropyl AlcoholInstallation Procedure for the 188-2103 Seal Gp
Thoroughly de-grease the housing surfaces that will contact the rubber load ring of the seal with clean solvent. Wipe Dry.
Unwrap the 188-2103 Seal Gp and place rubber side down on clean surface (recommended using the shipping VCI paper as clean surface). Inspect to insure rubber seal properly seated into all notches on the metal ring.
Inspect the ring face for debris or damage. Using lint-free cloth, wipe ring face with the approved cleaner.
Using the installation tool (205-8241), open the wing nut to enlarge installation tool. Place tool over metal ring, and clamp down tool onto metal ring edge. Insure ring properly seated within the tool slot. Tighten the wing nut to secure installation tool around metal ring edge.
Install the seal group into the housing bore. Check to make sure the seal is flat (not tilted) and that the rubber ring is seated evenly at the bottom bore.Note: The rubber should not be lubricated prior to installation.
Repeat Step 1 to Step 5 for other housing.
After installing the seal groups into housings wipe both metal ring sealing faces with a lint-free cloth.
Lubricate the polished metal ring face with a light coating of Molycote Lubricant (200-5937), included with the seal group packaging.
