Description of Change: A new kit is available for turbocharged 3054 Engines in C Series and D Series Backhoe Loaders. This kit may be applied if visible oil leaks develop at the joint between the inlet manifold and the cylinder head, or at the hose on the turbocharger oil drain line. The oil leaks are caused by a small amount of oil that is pulled past the turbocharger seals. This is caused by extended idle time. The new inlet manifold gasket and the hose that is between the turbocharger and the inlet manifold seals against oil. The parts are now changed in production in order to seal against the small amount of oil that is pulled through the turbocharger into the inlet manifold.Adaptable To: The new 211-5859 Manifold Kit is adaptable to all turbocharged 3054 Engines on the following engine arrangements: 187-1014, 187-8015, 188-0883, 122-8803, 122-8805, 122-8804 and 122-8806. The engine arrangements are only for the following models: C-Series and D-Series Backhoe loaders. The kit contains the following items:
A new hose for installation between the turbocharger and inlet manifold
Two new hose clamps for improved sealing for the hose
a new inlet manifold gasket that is designed to seal against oilRefer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Inlet Manifold - Remove and Install" in order to replace the inlet manifold gasket.Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Turbocharger - Inspect" in order to make sure that the turbocharger is in proper operating condition. A small amount of oil in the compressor housing is normal. This is true especially in applications when the engine is allowed to idle for long periods. The turbocharger may be cleaned if the following items are in good condition: turbocharger housings, bearings and wheels.
