Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the engine side guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Side Guards - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
Personal injury can result from failure to disconnect the battery.First, disconnect the negative battery cable. Then, disconnect the positive battery cable.A positive power lead can cause sparks if the battery is not disconnected. Sparks can possibly result in battery explosion or fire.

Disconnect cable assemblies (1). Loosen bolts (2), (6) and (4), and nuts (3). Remove belt (5) and bolts (4) and (6). Remove alternator (7) .Installation Procedure

Position alternator (7). Install bolts (6) and (4) .
Install belt (5) .
Adjust the alternator belt. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belts - Inspect/Adjust/Replace" for the correct procedure.
Tighten bolts (2), (4), and (6). Tighten nuts (3). Connect cable assemblies (1) .End By: Install the engine side guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Side Guards - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
