Wiring diagram for the automatic lubrication system
Illustration 2 g01844917
Typical view of the automatic lubrication pump
(1) Autolube pump motor
(2) Autolube solenoid valve
(3) Lubricant reservoir
(4) Electric vent valve The electrical system for the automatic lubrication system consists of two major components. The two components are the chassis ECM and autolube solenoid valve (2). The chassis ECM energizes autolube solenoid valve (2) at specified time intervals. The interval is configurable from two minutes to 120 minutes. Ten minutes after the machine has started the chassis ECM will turn on autolube solenoid valve (2). At every 60 minute interval, the chassis ECM will turn on the solenoid which will stay on until the autolube pressure sensor detects system pressure at 15850 kPa (2300 psi) or until the system runs for two minutes. This continues until the machine is turned off.The chassis ECM determines when a lube cycle begins. When the lube cycle begins, the chassis ECM energizes the autolube relay. Current is supplied to the autolube unit. Autolube solenoid valve (2) is energized. Electric vent valve (4) closes preventing lubricant from flowing back into lubricant reservoir (3). Autolube pump motor (1) is energized. The autolube pump begins dispensing lubricant through injectors to the bearings. When all of the bearings have received lubricant, the pressure in the system rises to 15850 kPa (2300 psi) which actuates the autolube pressure sensor. When the autolube pressure sensor actuates, the chassis ECM de-energizes the autolube relay which cuts off the current to the autolube unit. Autolube solenoid valve (2) is de-energized. Electric vent valve (4) opens allowing excess pressure and lubricant to flow back into lubricant reservoir (3). The system pressure vents. The autolube pressure sensor no longer senses high pressure. Autolube pump motor (1) is de-energized. The autolube pump stops. The chassis ECM is reset. The chassis ECM begins timing toward the next lube cycle. Note: If the pressure in the system does not rise to 15850 kPa (2300 psi) within two minutes, the chassis ECM will de-energize the autolube relay which cuts off the current to the autolube unit. For information on the electrical system, refer to Schematic, "Electrical System".
