Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for the correct draining and filling capacities.

Improper lift rigging can allow unit to tumble causing injury and damage.
Attach a suitable lifting device to the engine lifting eyes.
The weight of the 3512C and 3512E Engines is approximately 6800 kg (15000 lb).

Remove bolts (1) and disconnect elbow (2).

Disconnect hose (4) (if equipped) and remove bolts (3).

Use a suitable lifting device to support oil pan (6). The weight of oil pan (6) is approximately 65 kg (144 lb).
Remove bolts (5) and lower oil pan (6)

Use a suitable lifting device to support oil pan (8). The weight of oil pan (8) is approximately 24 kg (53 lb).
Remove bolts (7) and remove oil pan (8).Installation Procedure

Install oil pan (7) and oil pan (8) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (A) to all mating surfaces of oil pan (7) and oil pan (8).
