Introduction
This instruction gives the procedure needed to replace the 1P9946 Fan Drive Shaft.Do not perform any procedure outlined in this publication until you read and understand the information contained within.Reference: Service Manual and Parts BookNecessary Parts
* 1 1P9946 - Fan Shaft* 1 5S2106 - SealReplacement Procedure
1. Remove 6N7210 Fan Drive Group from engine. Refer to Service Manual for disassembly procedures.2. Remove grease fitting (5).3. Remove 5B5812 Dowel (1) from side (A).4. Press out 1P9946 Shaft (3) from 6N7260 Bracket Assembly (4).5. Position new 1P9946 Shaft (3) in side (C) of 6N7260 Bracket Assembly (4) with tapped holes (2) in a vertical position as shown.Press shaft (3) into bracket assembly (4) to depth shown.6. Drill a 8.7 mm (.342 in) hole through shaft (3) from side (B).7. Drill and ream a 9.340 .013 mm (.368 .0005 in) hole to a depth of 23.0 1.5 mm (.905 .059 in) from side (A).8. Install 5B5812 Dowel (1) in side (A) to depth shown.9. Install grease fitting (5) in side (B). When re-assembling 6N7210 Fan Drive Group, replace 5S2106 Seal.10. Install fan drive group. Refer to Service Manual for installation procedures.
