When reporting the repair, use "PS8583" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The 8Y4804 Lock Assembly used in the 1029153 Door Assembly has had failures due to operational side loading of the lock assembly on certain D3C, D4C, D5C III Track Type Tractors, 933 and 939 Track Type Loaders. The failure occurs when wafers in the lock shear due to high handle operational efforts.

1. Remove the 1029146 Cover and 6V2375 Handle Assembly from the door.2. Remove the 8Y4811 Latch Assembly and 8Y4804 Lock Assembly.3. Drill and notch hole for new lock assembly as shown in Illustration 1.4. Fabricate cover plate from thin steel or sheet metal as shown in Illustration 2.5. Install the 1268510 Lock Assembly, the fabricated cover plate, and the 1268511 Latch Assembly. The cover plate should be installed on the inside of the door. See Illustration 3.6. Paint over old hole location and seal with silicone. If desired, the old hole location may be plugged and welded back up.
