Oil Cooled Steering Clutch and Brake (Power Shift Transmission)
Use the following procedure to adjust the brakes on machines with Power Shift Transmission when the brake pedals touch the fire wall or earlier at the operator's option. 1. Tighten the brake adjusting nut (1) to a torque of 43 N m (34 lb ft).2. Check the brake linkage for excessive free pedal travel. Free pedal travel should not be more than 13 mm (1/2").3. If excessive free pedal travel is found, check for worn, damaged and/or incorrect linkage components.A small amount of free pedal travel can be adjusted by the following procedure:1. Remove pin (2), which fastens rod (4) to lever (3).2. Pull lever (3) as far back as possible and hold it there. Then, while pulling rod (4) back, adjust the length of rod (4) so it will freely connect to lever (3) with pin (2).If it is not possible to adjust the pedal travel to specifications with the brake adjusting nut torqued to the above specification, check all internal brake components for wear and/or damage. After free pedal travel has been adjusted to a minimum with the brake adjusting nut torqued to the specification given, loosen nut (1) 2 1/2 turns (15 clicks). The left and right brake pedal should have approximately equal free pedal travel. If they do not, tighten the adjusting nut (1) on the side with the most free pedal travel until free pedal travel is approximately equal on both brake pedals. 1 click of the adjusting nut (1) equals approximately 5 mm (1/4") of pedal travel.Tracks
If tracks are too tight or loose, wear of components is accelerated. If they appear too tight or too loose, adjust the track. Follow the procedures in the "Maintenance Section" for adjustment.
Ripper Tips
Replace ripper tips before wear occurs on the shank. Follow the procedures in the "Maintenance Section" for replacement.Dozer Cutting Edges and End Bits
Have the cutting edges and end bits replaced, or reversed, before wear on the dozer blade occurs. Follow the procedures in the "Maintenance Section" for reversal or replacement.
