Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Cap and plug all lines, hoses, and tubes to prevent fluid loss and to prevent contaminants from entering the system.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
1. Connect the steering frame lock link. Refer to the topic "Steering Frame Lock Link, Separate & Connect" in this module.2. Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to the topic "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" in this module.3. Drain the implement and brake hydraulic tank in a suitable container for storage or disposal. 4. Disconnect and plug two hose assemblies (2) from pilot pump (1). 5. Remove two bolts (3) and the washers. Remove pilot pump (1). The following steps are for the installation of the pilot pump.6. Ensure that all parts of the pilot pump are thoroughly clean prior to assembly. Check the condition of the O-ring seals before connecting the hydraulic hose assemblies to pilot pump. Replace any damaged O-ring seals with new parts. Lubricate the O-ring seals with hydraulic oil.7. Install pilot pump (1) and two bolts (3).8. Connect two hose assemblies (3) to pilot pump (1).9. Fill the implement and brake hydraulic oil tank. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7141 for the proper lubricant and capacity.10. Separate the steering frame lock link.
