Location of swing boom pedal
(A) Swing boom pedal One swing boom cylinder is used to move the boom to the left or right. When the swing boom cylinder EXTENDS, the boom moves LEFT. When the swing boom cylinder RETRACTS, the boom moves RIGHT.The main hydraulic pump supplies high-pressure oil to the main control valve. Pilot oil pressure from the pressure limiting valve inside the pilot manifold creates pilot pressure that is used by the pedal. This pressure is used to control the movement of the swing boom control valve. The swing boom control valve is located inside of the main control valve. The swing boom control valve controls the amount of flow into the swing boom cylinder and is proportional to the movement of the pedal. The main pump controls the pressure of the swing boom system.Components of the swing boom system include:

When swing boom pedal (A) is moved into the SWING BOOM LEFT position, mechanical linkage (7) moves swing boom control valve (6) upwards.Main pump (16) sends oil into main control valve (4). The oil flows into parallel feeder passage (8) and through swing boom control valve (6). The oil then flows into passage (14) and shifts load sense control spool (9) upwards. The oil in passage (14) now flows through load sense control spool (9) and separates into two different paths. The first path the oil flows is into load sense passage (10) and to main pump (17). This action causes main pump (17) to upstroke. The second path the oil flows is through passage (12), through load check valve (5), and into swing boom control valve (6). The oil then flows into line (3) and into the head end of swing boom cylinder (2).The return oil flows from the rod end of swing boom cylinder (2), into line (1), and into main control valve (4). The return oil then flows into swing boom control valve (6), into return passage (11), and through slow return check valve (15).
