Adjustment for the Lengths of the Rods in the Steering Cylinders when the Toe-in for the Front Wheels is Correct: 1 Lift front wheels off ground. Install lockpin in tie bar.2 Loosen locknut (10) and turn cylinder rod (11) on to the threads of the ball socket as far as possible. Do the same with the cylinder rod and ball socket on the right side.3 Steer the wheels for a maximum turn to the left. Turn the right side cylinder rod (11) until the left side stop (7) on the wheel spindle housing is .12 .06 in. (3.0 1.5 mm) from the left side axle stop (8). Tighten the locknut on the cylinder rod.4 Steer the wheels for a maximum turn to the right. Turn the left side cylinder rod (11) until the right side stop (7) on the wheel spindle housing is .12 .06 in. (3.0 1.5 mm) from the right side axle stop (8). Tighten the locknut on the cylinder rod. Bearing Preload for Front Axle Bearings:Check the torque required to turn (rotate) the spindle. The torque must be a maximum of 175 lb.in. (20 N m). If the torque is too much, install one shim between the retainer and spindle. Only one shim can be used to correct the preload. Torque for nuts (10) is 250 30 lb. ft. (340 40 N m)
