Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Clean the flange face of the cylinder head. Slide two new gaskets (8) onto the studs (7) .
Install the coolant hose (4) and hose clamps (3) .Note: The gaskets for the inlet and exhaust manifold do not use a sealing compound.
Place the inlet and exhaust manifold (1) into position on the studs (7). Slide the inlet and exhaust manifold (1) and the coolant hose (4) into the final position.

Ensure that all of the bolts and nuts are clean. Put 4C-9612 silicone sealant onto the threads of the bolts. Install the bolts (6) and install the nuts (5) with washers onto the studs (7) .
Tighten the bolts (6) and tighten the nuts (5). Begin at the center of the inlet and exhaust manifold and work toward the ends. Tighten the bolts and nuts to a torque of 52 N m (38 lb ft).

If equipped, install fuel ratio control line (2) onto the inlet and exhaust manifold (1) .
Tighten the hose clamps (3) that secure the coolant hose (4) to the inlet and exhaust manifold (1) .End By:
Install the heat exchanger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Heat Exchanger - Remove".
Install the turbocharger, if equipped. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install".
Fill the cooling system. If the engine uses Diesel Engine Antifreeze/Coolant (DEAC), refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change". If the engine uses Extended Life Coolant (ELC), refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
