The cylinder head assemblies may exhibit a brown discoloration before the rust preventative has been removed. The color of the rust preventative may vary from a light brown to a dark brown. After the rust preventative has been removed the base metal of the head assembly may show signs of discoloration.

Either the blue or the brown color of the rust preventative may discolor the base metal. However, when the rust preventative is removed there will be no noticeable pitting of the base metal. Therefore, the discoloration of the base metal does not affect the functionality of the cylinder head assembly.
