Removal Procedure
At operating temperature the implement hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. To prevent possible injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic system before hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground and engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving.
Start the engine. Move the ejector to the front of the scraper bowl. Turn off the engine.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.

Attach a nylon lifting strap and a suitable lifting device to the ejector cylinder, as shown.
Illustration 2 g00805611
Block the ejector with blocking in order to prevent the ejector from moving toward the rear of the machine.
Wrap chain around the head end of the cylinder and wrap chain around the support beam. Wrap chain loosely in order to allow the ejector cylinder to move through the chain.Note: The chain will support the head end of the cylinder during the removal procedure.
Illustration 3 g00805911
Remove two bolts (2) and remove bar (3) on the rod end of the ejector cylinder. Use a hammer and a brass rod in order to remove pin (1) .Note: There are four spacers on each side of the rod end of the ejector cylinder.
Fully retract the rod for the ejector cylinder.
Relieve the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".
Illustration 4 g00806338
Insert blocking under ejector cylinder (4). This will support ejector cylinder (4) when ejector cylinder (4) is being removed.
Illustration 5 g00805948
Remove four bolts (6), the washers and the half flanges that secure hose assembly (5) to ejector cylinder (4). Disconnect hose assembly (5) from ejector cylinder (4) .

Disconnect hose assembly (7) from ejector cylinder (4) .
Illustration 7 g00806263
Remove bolt (9), the nut and the washers. Remove hose assembly (5) from clip (8) on ejector cylinder (4) .
Illustration 8 g00806327
Remove bolt (10) and the washer in order to remove pin (11) .
Illustration 9 g00806334
Remove pin (11) with brass rod.Note: Use of a blocking and a pry bar may be necessary on the head end of the ejector cylinder in order to remove the pin.
Use the lifting device in order to remove ejector cylinder (4) from the machine. The ejector cylinder weighs 118 kg (260 lb).
