Illustration 2. Modification of 8P8381 Base Assembly.INSTALLATION: To install the new seals with the existing base assembly on an earlier transmission, use the procedure that follows. To install the seals with a later base assembly, use Steps 4 through 7.
1. Remove the slave switch from the transmission.2. Machine a 30° chamfer to a diameter of 15.00 0.13 mm (.591 .005") around each of the four bolt holes in the 8P8381 Base Assembly, on the outer surface where the cover fits against the base. See Illustration 2.3. Thoroughly clean the base assembly to remove all metal chips and particles, then install the slave switch.4. Assemble the four 8F8544 Bolts with 3B4506 Lock-washers into the 3P3726 Cover, then put the 7M2082 Gasket on the bolts.5. Install an 8M8157 Seal on each bolt, then install the cover on the base.6. Install the complete unit on the transmission case and tighten the bolts to the correct torque.7. Check the operation of the transmission.
