PUMP GP-FUEL TRANSFER 2922007 - Caterpillar

Introduction
This instruction shows the correct installation procedure for the following shafts and steering and implement pumps:* 9J5044 Pump Group* 9J5054 Pump Group* 9J5088 Shaft in a 6J9896 Pump Group* 9J5094 Shaft in a 7J1920 Pump GroupThe pumps or shafts above have longer seal surfaces which could make contact with the 7D3890 Gear Assembly hub counterbores. This could cause failure of the pump bearing, pump shaft or gear bearing.The 7D3890 Gear Assembly can be used with modification to the gear hub or replaced by 2G7243 Gear Assembly as the hydraulic pump drive gear.Installation Procedure
1. Inspect counterbores (A) of the hydraulic pump drive gears.If either counterbore (A) is less than 41 mm (1.62") diameter and more than 3 mm (.12") deep, remove the respective bearing cage (1) and drive gear assembly (2). These dimensions are needed so the longer seal surface of 9J5088 Shaft or 9J5094 Shaft can fully engage into drive gear counterbores (A).2. Install 2G7243 Gear Assembly.See the Service Manual for the correct installation and bearing adjustments.
Modification of 7D3890 Gear Assembly 7D3890 Gear Assembly (2) can be used again by grinding 4.8 mm (.19") of material from gear hub at location (B).3. Install the hydraulic pump.
