Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Personnel can be injured during the steering check.To help prevent possible personal injury, keep all personnel away from the machine or in clear view of the operator when the machine is in operation during steering checks.
To check the slip of the steering wheel, put the machine on a dry, hard surface. Raise the bowl and release the brakes. Start the engine and operate the engine at high idle. Turn the steering wheel toward the right until the stops hit. Turn the steering wheel toward the left until the stops hit. Count the rotations of the steering wheel. Repeat the procedure for a right turn.The steering wheel rotations for a turn must not exceed 3.5 rotations.If the number of rotations exceeds 3.5 rotations, the steering slip is excessive. Check the troubleshooting section. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Operational Checks" for more information on troubleshooting the steering system.
