The Caterpillar Electronic Technician Software is equipped with a feature for calibrating the machine control system. The calibration mode is accessed by connecting the ET to the vehicle. Select the Machine Control ECM. This is shown in illustration 1.

Once the Machine Control ECM is selected, the calibration procedures are accessed through the "Service Menu". Select "Calibrations" from the menu. This is shown in illustration 2.

The warning for safety during calibration will be displayed on the ET screen. Select "OK" after reading the warning.The calibration of the electro-hydraulic control valve determines the point when hydraulic oil flow starts for all implement functions. Calibration determines the amount of electric current that must be sent to each valve in order to initiate flow to the cylinders. The amount of electric current that is required to establish full flow to the cylinders is determined. The Machine Control ECM records these currents in memory. The ECM uses these ranges until the ECM is replaced or the calibration procedure is performed again.For the initial calibration of the valve, you must perform all of the portions of the procedure: bowl, apron and ejector.
