Fabricated bolster for 777 Truck bodies.Adaptable To: The improvement to the truck bodies and the replacement bolsters are adaptable to 773 Trucks (63G1-Up), 769B Trucks (99F2287-Up) and 777 Trucks (84A1-Up). The new replacement 6G1978 Bolster is used on 773 and 769B Trucks, and the replacement 6G2929 Bolster is used on 777 Trucks. INSTALLATION: The bolsters can be installed as follows: (See Illustration 3).
Illustration 3. Typical installation of bolster.1. Cut the new replacement bolster to fit.2. Use the new bolster to determine where to cut to remove the old bolster. Remove the old bolster.3. Put a chamfer at the top of the bolster to give room for the weld between the top rail and the body. Use a .234" (5.95 mm) fillet weld all around the bolster.4. If a replacement of the bolster in the rock guard area on the 773 Truck is to be made, the blocks that hold the rock guard to the bolsters will have to be cut off and welded on again.
