Illustration 1 g01290830The hydraulic filter has a bypass valve. If the filter element becomes full of debris, oil cannot pass through the filter. The restriction to oil flow will cause a pressure increase. The increase in pressure will open the filter bypass. When oil bypasses the filter element, debris in the oil will cause damage to other system components. Correct maintenance must be used in order to make sure that the filter element remains clean. The filter is equipped with a drain (1). Drain (1) is used to drain the oil out of the filter before the filter element is changed.
