start by:a) remove engine radiator and aftercooler radiator as a unitb) remove drive shaft *c) remove drive shaft for pump drive **1. Remove the oil from the hydraulic tank and the torque converter. See the LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE. 2. Disconnect hose (1) from the torque converter.3. Disconnect clamp (2) from the torque converter. 4. Disconnect hoses (3), (4) and (6) from the torque converter.5. Disconnect hoses (5) and (7) from the torque converter.6. Disconnect hoses (8) and (9) from the valve.7. Remove hose (10) from the pump. 8. Disconnect hose (13) from magnetic screen (11). Remove magnetic screen (11) from the pump.9. Disconnect wire (12) from the sender. 10. Disconnect two fuel hoses (16).11. Disconnect hose (14) from the oil cooler.12. Disconnect hose (15) from the oil cooler.*Operation location is in POWER TRAIN DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY SECTION.**Operation location is in VEHICLE SYSTEMS DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY SECTION. 13. Disconnect clamp (18) that holds hose (14) to the oil pan.14. Disconnect hose (17) from the oil cooler. 15. Disconnect hoses (19) and (20) from the oil cooler. 16. Disconnect hoses (22) and (23) from the water pump.17. Disconnect pipe (21) from the aftercooler water pump. 18. Put identification on the cables for installation. Disconnect cables (24), (25), (26), (27) and (28) from the starting motors. 19. Disconnect hoses (29) and (30) from air tank (31). 20. Remove air hoses (32) and (36) from the turbochargers and air cleaner manifolds.21. Remove elbow (33) from the frame.22. Disconnect the clamp that holds hose (34) to the aftercooler housing. Disconnect hose (34) from the governor.23. Disconnect cable (35) from the tachometer drive. 24. Disconnect wire harness (37) from the cab panel. Remove the wire harness from the clamps that hold it to the frame. 25. Disconnect wires from wire harness (37) at the terminals and at switch (38). Make sure wire harness (37) is not fastened to the frame. 26. Put tooling (A) under the main frame crossmember. Lift the front of the truck to remove the compression from pipe (39). Install a hoist on pipe (39). Remove the bolts that hold the pipe to the frame. Remove the pipe. Weight is 81 lbs. (36.7 kg). Keep the shims with the pipe for installation. 27. Install a hoist and tool (B) on the engine. Remove the bolts that hold the engine to front support (40). 28. Remove caps (41) from the engine rear supports.29. Remove the engine and torque converter from the truck. Weight is 9800 lbs. (4445 kg).30. Remove the oil pan from the engine. See REMOVE OIL PAN.31. Put the engine and torque converter in position on tool (C). 32. Install tooling (D) on a hoist and the torque converter. Remove the bolts that hold the torque converter to the engine. Remove the torque converter. Weight is 1350 lbs. (612.4 kg). Torque converter can be removed without removal of the engine.Install Engine And Torque Converter
