New Wheel Bearing Adjustment Procedure For The Front Wheels
1. Assemble the front wheel group as shown in Illustration 1. Install retainer (3) with four equally spaced bolts (5). Do not install cover (4).2. Tighten four bolts (5) to 200 N m (150 lb ft).3. Turn wheel (2) two revolutions.4. Tighten four bolts (5) again to 200 N m (150 lb ft).5. Completely loosen four bolts (5). Then tighten four bolts (5) to 110 N m (80 lb ft).6. Turn wheel (2) two revolutions.7. Tighten four bolts (5) again to 110 N m (80 lb ft).8. Turn wheel (2) two revolutions.9. Tighten four bolts (5) again to 110 N m (80 lb ft).10. Measure the distance from the end of axle (1) to the face of bearing cone (6).11. Install a shim pack with a thickness equal to the distance measured in Step 10 plus 0.127 mm (.0050") between bearing cone (6) and retainer (3).12. Tighten eight bolts (5) to 250 14 N m (185 10 lb ft).

Illustration 2. Location of referenced parts in the rear wheel group.1. Assemble the rear wheel group as shown in Illustration 2. Install retainer (5) with six equally spaced bolts (4).2. Tighten six bolts (4) to 200 N m (150 lb ft).3. Turn wheel (2) two revolutions.4. Tighten six bolts (4) to 200 N m (150 lb ft).5. Completely loosen six bolts (4). Retighten these bolts to 110 N m (80 lb ft).6. Turn wheel (2) two revolutions.7. Tighten six bolts (4) again to 110 N m (80 lb ft).8. Turn wheel (2) two revolutions.9. Tighten six bolts (4) again to 110 N m (80 lb ft).10. Measure the distance from the end of spindle housing (1) to the outer face of final drive hub (3).11. Install a shim pack with a thickness equal to the distance measured in Step 10, plus 0.381 mm (.0150") between final drive hub (3) and retainer (5).12. Tighten 12 bolts (4) to 250 15 N m (185 10 lb ft).
