Introduction
The problem that is identified below does have a known solution. Use the solution that is identified below.Problem
Erratic voltage and power readings on the EMCP panel of certain generator sets has occurred. Certain 3300 V - 4160 V generator sets have shipped with the EMCP voltage sensing configured to wye. The generator is connected in a wye configuration. However, the control panel utilizes two potential transformers (PT's) wired in an open delta configuration for voltage sensing. Therefore, the sensing must be configured to three wire delta for proper operation. The symptom of the parameter being configured incorrectly is erratic voltage and power readings on the EMCP panel. The phase current readings will be unaffected.Solution
The generators that are identified by the serial numbers in this pub are to be updated if needed. Generators built after 1February 2013 from the factory are set to the correct configuration.Use the following steps in order to check the generator connection configuration parameter setting.Note: For more information about navigating to the desired parameters of EMCP 3.x units, refer to the menu maps in Systems Operation Troubleshooting Testing and Adjusting, RENR7902, "Electronic Control Module (Generator Set) - Configure".Note: For more information about navigating to the desired parameters of EMCP 4.x units, refer to the menu maps in Systems Operation Troubleshooting Testing and Adjusting, UENR1209, "Electronic Control Module (Generator Set) - Configure".Using the EMCP

(1) Display (2) AC overview key (3) Arrow keys (4) OK key (5) Main menu key
Press the "Main Menu" button (5) on the EMCP. Refer to Illustration 1.
Use the arrow buttons (3) to scroll to "Configure". Press "OK" (4) .
Use the arrow buttons (3) to scroll to "All Setpoints". Press "OK" (4) .
Use the arrow buttons (3) to scroll to "Generator Monitor Protection". Press "OK" (4) .
Use the arrow buttons (3) to scroll to "Generator AC Monitor". Verify the current setting for the generator connection configuration parameter.Note: A level 3 password is required to change the parameter using the display. No password is needed if Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Service Tool is used to change the generator connection configuration parameter. If needed, refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting/Troubleshooting, UENR1209, "Password Entry" for the steps to enter the password.
If the parameter is set to "Delta (3 wire)", no changes are needed. Press the "Main Menu" key (5) to exit. If the parameter is set to "wye (or star)" connection, change the parameter to "Delta (3 wire)".
Press the "Main Menu" key (5) to exit.Using Cat ET
