Removal Procedure
Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment.To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.

Raise hood (1) by activating switch (2). Turn battery disconnect switch (3) and the fuel supply to the off position.

Remove right side engine panel (4).

Remove ether atomizer (5).
Loosen clamps (6) and disconnect tube assembly (7).

Disconnect harness assemblies (9) and (11).
Remove nut (12) and disconnect the ground cable, the ground strap, and the harness assembly.
Use a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (8). The weight of electric starting motor (8) is approximately 37 kg (81 lb).
Remove bolts (10) and electric starting motor (8).Installation Procedure
Install electric starting motor (8) in reverse order of removal.
Tighten nut (12) and the nut for harness assembly (11) to a torque of 30.5 3.5 N m (23 3 lb ft).
Tighten the nut for harness assembly (9) to a torque of 3.4 1.2 N m (30 11 lb in).
Position ether atomizer (5) so the orifice spray indication mark is directed against the incoming air.
