PUMP & MTG GP-UNIT INJ HYD 3878622 - Caterpillar

1. Remove two bolts (1) that hold pump in position. 2. Remove two connectors (2) and four seals (3) from gear plate (4). Clean old liquid gasket material off of pump before installation. 3. Install new seals (3) on connectors.4. Put a light amount of oil in bore of pump. Install connectors (2) in gear plate (4). 5. Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material on metal surfaces (5) between oil pump group and oil manifold (6) that make contact with each other.6. Put the oil pump in position and install with two bolts (1).Disassemble Oil Pump
start by:a) remove oil pump1. Put a mark on pump bodies for installation purposes. 2. Remove six retaining bolts (1) from the cover assembly (2).3. Remove the cover assembly (2). Inspect all wear plate bearings (3) and seals and make replacements if parts are worn and/or damaged.4. Remove the wear plate (4) and seal (5) in the cover assembly (2). 5. Remove the driven gear (6) and the driving gear (8) from shaft (7) and driving shaft (9). The gears (6) and (8) are an easy fit on the shafts (7) and (9). 6. Make a separation of the body assembly (14) and the gear plate (10).7. Remove the wear plate (11) and seal (13) from the body assembly (14).8. Remove bearings (12) and make a replacement if parts are worn or damaged. 9. Remove seal (15) which is in body assembly (14) and cover assembly (2). 10. Inspect seal (16) in body assembly (14).Assemble Oil Pump
Put oil on all parts before assembly to be sure of early pump lubrication. 1. Put gears (2) and (8) on shafts (1) and (9). 2. Install bearings (12) and (13) in body assembly (11) and cover assembly (3) with tooling (A).3. Install wear plates (4) and (10) in cover assembly (3) and body assembly (11). Be sure oil relief grooves and copper side on wear plates are toward the gears.4. Put assembled shafts in gear plate (5).5. Install cover assembly (3) and body assembly (11) on the pin dowels (6) that are extended from the gear plate (5).6. Install connectors with seals (7) in gear plate (5).7. Install six retaining bolts in the cover assembly (3).end by:a) install oil pump
