Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct procedure.

Jacket Water Heater
Disconnect harness assembly (4).
Disconnect harness assembly (3) from jacket water heater (2).
Loosen screw (1). Remove the jacket water heater from the cylinder block. Installation Procedure
Note: If a jacket water heater has not previously been installed, refer to Special Instruction REHR3747-00, "Installation of the Jacket Water Heater" for the correct procedure.

Position for the Jacket Water Heater
The area of the block between number one cylinder and number two cylinder (5) must be clean and free from damage.

O-ring Seal for the Jacket Water Heater
If the jacket water heater (2) will be reused, remove the O-ring seal (6).
Ensure that the jacket water heater is clean and free from damage.
Install a new O-ring seal.
Use Tooling (A) in order to lubricate the O-ring seal.
If a new jacket water heater is installed, use Tooling (A) in order to lubricate the O-ring seal.

Jacket Water Heater
Install the jacket water heater into the coolant circuit of the cylinder block. The heater element must be installed in the vertical position. Note: Ensure that the jacket water heater element does not foul the internal surface of the cylinder block.
Tighten screw (1) to a torque of 2.5 N m (22 lb in).
Connect harness assembly (3) to the jacket water heater.
Connect wiring harness (4) to harness assembly.
Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct procedure.
