This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI1378" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI1378" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the June 5, 1998 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Affected Product.
Problem
The steering system in some applications has the potential of becoming difficult or hard to steer when used in rough applications on certain 938F Wheel Loaders and IT38F Toolcarriers. These machines could exhibit excessive machine noise from the steering system. The tank oil level needs to be properly maintained and increased to eliminate this condition.

Refer to the Service Manual for draining the Hydraulic Tank.
For this repair, machine must be on level surface.
1. Drain the hydraulic tank of all oil.2. Remove the filter cover and filter.3. Reach in the tank and hold the sight glass assembly while removing the (2) 6V7732 Bolts and (2) 5H6005 Seals.4. Remove the sight glass assembly, composed of the following: 9R2630 Retainer, 3G5980 Plate, 4J8251 Grommet and 4J8252 Glass.5. Replace the 3G5980 Plate with a new 1622115 Plate and reinstall the sight glass assembly. It may be necessary to use a new grommet and seals.
6. Refill the hydraulic tank to the new level specified on the sight glass as per Service Manual.Owner Notification
