Information:
start by:a) remove vibration damper (D398 and D399 only)-remove fan drive (D379) 1. On D379 only, remove the cover (1). Put a mark on two bolts (2) for installation. 2. Remove the bolts that hold adapter (3) to the crankshaft.3. Use tooling (A) to remove the adapter (3).4. Remove the baffle (4) from accessory drive housing. 5. Remove ring (5) and spring from the thrower. 6. Install tooling (B) on the thrower. Put heat on the outer diameter of thrower with an open flame at a maximum temperature of 400°F (204°C). Remove the thrower immediately with tooling (B).7. Remove the ring from the accessory drive housing.Install Crankshaft Front Seal Ring And Thrower
1. Put 6V1541 Quick Cure Primer and 9S3265 Retaining Compound on ring. Install ring in accessory drive housing. Assemble ring with holes at bottom and with chamfer toward inside of housing. 2. Heat the thrower (1) in oil to a maximum temperature of 400°F (205°C). Install thrower on crankshaft. Use tooling (A) to install thrower in correct location on crankshaft.
Do not install a used oil thrower, seal ring or spring. Be sure all parts are absolutely clean.
3. Fill thrower groove one half full of 6V2055 High Vacuum Grease after thrower has become cool. 4. Put clean engine oil on the spring and ring. Install spring and ring (2) on thrower with the word "OUT" on ring away from crankcase. Put the gap of the ring, to top of crankshaft when installed. The seal ring must turn freely in its groove. 5. Install the baffle (3).6. Put 9S3263 Thread Lock on threads of bolts for adapter. 7. Install the adapter (4) on D379 only.8. Install the cover on D379 only. Put bolts with Loctite in location with X mark.end by:a) install vibration damper (D398 and D399 only)
