Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Check the condition of O-ring seal (1) from fuel injection pump (2). If the seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.
Lightly lubricate O-ring seal (1) with clean engine oil. Install O-ring seal (1) on fuel injection pump (2) .Note: Do not rotate the crankshaft with the timing pin in position.

Install the fuel injection pump (1) onto the engine. Loosely tighten the flange nuts (2) .
Install the drive gear onto the drive shaft of the fuel injection pump. Install the lockwasher and the nut for the drive gear. Tighten the nut to a torque of 15 N m (11 lb ft).
Tighten the flange nuts (2) to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft).
Release the locking screw. The locking screw is located on the side of the fuel injection pump that does not face the cylinder block. Install the spacer and then tighten the locking screw. Tighten the locking screw to a torque of 12 N m (106 lb in).
Remove the Tool (A) from the engine.
Fully tighten the nut for the drive gear to a torque of 80 N m (60 lb ft).
Install the throttle linkage. Install the electrical connection for the fuel shutoff solenoid.End By:
Install the fuel injection nozzles. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Nozzles - Install".
Install the fuel injection lines. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Remove and Install".
Install the valve mechanism cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install".
Install the water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Install".
Install the front cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Cover - Install".
