Install shim pack (9) and input assembly (8) on the winch.Note: Use the original shim pack or a new shim pack of the same thickness. If the original shim pack is not available, use 70 percent of a new shim pack.
Install two bolts (7) and the washers that are separated by 180 degrees.Note: Do not install the O-ring seal now.
Remove six bolts (11), the washers, and cover (10) for pinion adjustment.

Keep bevel gear (13) from rotating. Use a dial indicator to measure backlash at yoke (19). Backlash should measure 0.2667 0.0381 mm (0.0105 0.0015 inch). Add shims (9) to input housing (8) to increase the backlash. Remove shims from the input housing to decrease the backlash.
