Remove the air compressor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Compressor - Remove and Install".

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Position Tool (A) around the drive gear and remove nut (4) from the drive shaft of the air compressor.
Remove O-ring seal (2) from adapter (1).

Use Tool (B) and remove drive gear (5) from the drive shaft of the air compressor. Remove the key from the shaft.
Remove the adapter and gasket (6).
