7. Pressure Signals
A. Check the pressure signals using Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET).
Refer to Table 3 for a list of correct specifications.
B. Check the voltage at the harness connector. Refer to Test Step 4.
Signal
Result: If the pressures and corresponding voltages are found in Cat ET do not match what is in the table, the fault may be in the ECM.
Install a replacement ECM to confirm the diagnostic code is not active.
Reinstall the suspect ECM. Contact the DSN for additional support.
Result: pressures and voltages are within specifications. Mass Air Flow Sensor Is Low
Table 5
Diagnostic Code
Code Description Conditions Notes
132-1 Intake Air Volume Low
Engine is operating 1,000 rpm or higher.
Coolant temper is 15 C or higher.
MAF sensor is normal.
EGR valve is normal.
Intake throttle valve is normal.
Battery voltage is normal.
Engine inlet air mass flow rate less than half of target value for 10 seconds or more.
EGR stop
Intake throttle 100% open
Engine Derate
Warning Level 2
132-15 Engine Inlet Air Mass Flow Rate (Boost Pressure Low)
Not in the Regeneration mode
Engine speed is 1600 rpm or more
Target intake air flow value is 950 mg/cyl or more
MAF sensor is normal
EGR valve is normal
Intake throttle valve is normal
Boost pressure sensor is normal
Barometric pressure sensor is normal
Coolant temperature sensor is normal
Boost pressure sensor output is below target level in high air flow operating condition
Output limitation: Approximately 50 % of normal condition
Speed limitation (Accelerator limitation: 50 %)
EGR stop
Intake throttle 100 % open
Regeneration Inhibited

Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Notes
1. Check the Air Intake System for Leaks
Leaks
Results: Air cleaner is not clogged. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual.
Results: Check that the air intake system does not have any leaks and all the hoses are secure.
2. Follow Troubleshooting Steps for 132-3 and 132-4 for a harness or connector problem
MAF sensor
Result: There is a fault found in the harness, connector, or bent pins at the engine ECM.
Result: The fault is not present.
Repair: Replace the MAF sensor.
3. If 132-15 is Present this is Indicating an Issue with the Boost Sensor
A. Check boost hose & electrical connector for damage, cracks, melting.
Boost Sensor
Result: Hose and connector not damaged.
STOP
Result: Electrical connector is damaged.
Repair: Repair or replace the engine harness.
Barometric Pressure Sensor
Table 7
Diagnostic Codes
Code Description Conditions Notes
108-3
Barometric Pressure Sensor Error - +B Short Circuit
Battery voltage is normal
Barometric pressure sensor voltage is 1.6V or less for 2.8 seconds or more.
Warning Level 2
System Defaults to 65 kPa
