The PSP applies to all customer machines except Marine Engines. Problem The rubber seal ring under the center check valve in the new scroll fuel transfer pump may not be sufficiently compressed when it is assembled. This is due to a possible accumulation of tolerances in the piece parts. When there is not enough compression on the rubber seal ring it can loosen and become lodged in the check valve assembly. This will cause a drop in fuel transfer pressure and immediate engine shutdown. A thicker glass-filled nylon ring is now used to assure proper retention. See the illustration. Affected Machines And New Parts Needed All the listed machines are includes in this Program: (SEE ILLUSTRATION) New Parts Needed: 1-4W7252 Seal Kit Action Requested (Parts Stock Action Required) 1. Inspect the area just below the engine serial number plate. Engines which have been reworked at the factory have a "P-6" stamped in this area. No further action is necessary if this stamped code is present. 2. If "P-6" has not been stamped in the area just below the engine serial number plate, remove and disassemble the fuel transfer pump by removing the two S1615 Bolts which hold the cover on. The cover on the fuel transfer pump has a moderate spring force behind it. Carefully retain the cover by hand to allow a controlled release after the bolts have been removed. Remove the 1W4922 Spring, 8N2637 Washer, 1W6182 Check Valve Assembly, and 3K9738 Rubber Seal Ring. The 1W1669 Piston need not be removed from the pump body. See the illustration. There are three 1W6182 Check Valve Assemblies in the fuel transfer pump. Only the one check valve assembly pointed out in the illustration needs to be reworked. (SEE ILLUSTRATION) 4. Install the parts in the following order: a) * 4W6908 Nylon Seal Ring b) * 1W6182 Check Valve Assembly c) 8N2637 Washer d) 1W4922 Spring 3) * 6F6672 O-Ring Seal f) * 3D2898 O-Ring Seal * These parts are included in the 4W7252 Seal kit. Install the cover on the assembled fuel transfer
