Illustration 1 g03363017This diagnostic code is recorded when data link for telemetry from the VIMS Main ECM has an abnormal update rate.Test Step 1. VERIFY THAT THE TELEMETRY SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY.
Verify that the telemetry system is operating correctly. Expected Result:The telemetry system should be operating correctly.Results:
YES - The telemetry system is operating correctly. proceed to Test Step 2.
NO - The telemetry system is NOT operating correctly.Repair: Repair the telemetry system.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR AN OPEN IN THE MACHINE HARNESS
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the connector from the VIMS Main ECM .
Disconnect the RS232 port from the telemetry system.
Measure the resistance of the circuits that are listed below:

Pin 43 Pin 5 Expected Result:All the resistance measurements should be less than 5 ohms.Results:
YES - All the resistance measurements are less than 5 ohms. proceed to test step 3.
NO - The resistance measurements are greater than 5 ohms. The machine harness has failed. Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE MACHINE HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND.
The machine harness remains disconnected from the VIMS Main ECM and the telemetry system.
Measure the resistance from frame ground to the contacts on the connector for the VIMS Main ECM contacts that follow:

Pin 35
Pin 43Expected Result:All the resistance measurements should be greater than 5 ohms.Results:
YES - All the resistance measurements are greater the 5 ohms. The machine harness is correct. The ECM has failed.Repair: The failure of an ECM is unlikely . Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. If the failure is not found, replace the ECM. Refer to the Service Manual, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace ".STOP
NO - A resistance measurement is less than 5 ohms. The machine harness has failed. Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOP
