Required Tools
Part Number    Description
1U-5796     Pressure Differential Gauge (Group)
Move the machine to a level location before the pressure test.
Raise the hydraulic oil to operating temperature.
Stop the engine.
Move the control levers for the bulldozer and for the ripper to each position several times. This operation releases the pressure in the lines.

Blocking Plate Installation (5) Blocking plate
If the machine has a ripper or a tilt cylinder, go to Step 9. Otherwise, take two blocking plates from the hydraulic test group.
Disconnect the rod end hydraulic line from each lift cylinder. Install a blocking plate assembly (5) in each line.
Remove the floorplates.
Adjust the pressure cutoff spool on the pressure and flow compensator valve to the maximum pressure setting. The pressure cutoff spool is normally set to 38500 kPa (5580 psi). If you do not adjust the pressure cutoff spool, you can not test the main relief valve, which has a higher setting. Refer to the topic "Pressure Cutoff Spool Adjustment" in Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure and Flow Compensator Valve" in this module.
Install the 8T-0861 Pressure Gauge on the 6V-3081 Hose .

The pressure tap is accessed by removing the floorplates in the operator's station. (1) Implement pump (discharge pressure) with label HA (2) Implement pump (signal oil pressure) with label HB
Connect the gauge and hose to pressure tap (1) .
Start and run the engine at high idle.
Lift the ripper to the maximum height. Raise the blade to the maximum height. Watch the test gauge. Slowly move the control lever to the RAISE position. The high reading on the gauge is the pressure setting of the main relief valve. The pressure setting of the main relief valve is 42000 400 kPa (6100 60 psi).Note: Do not hold the control in the RAISE position for more than 10 seconds. Do not use the control lever for one minute after the test.
When the pressure setting is correct, remove the test equipment.
Adjust the pressure cutoff spool on the pressure and flow compensator valve to the correct pressure setting. The pressure cutoff spool is normally set to 38500 kPa (5580 psi). Refer to the topic "Pressure Cutoff Spool Adjustment" in Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure and Flow Compensator Valve" in this module.
Install the floorplates.Adjustment of the Main Relief Valve
First, test the main relief valve. Refer to "Test of the Main Relief Valve" above.Note: If you do not adjust the pressure cutoff spool, you can not test the main relief valve, which has a higher setting. Refer to the topic "Pressure Cutoff Spool Adjustment" in Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure and Flow Compensator Valve" in this module.
Illustration 4 g00598764
The main relief valve is located in the inlet manifold at the bottom of the control valve stack. (3) Locknut (4) Adjustment screw
Loosen locknut (3) on the main relief valve.
Turn adjustment screw (4) clockwise in order to increase the pressure setting. Turn adjustment screw (4) counterclockwise in order to decrease the pressure setting.
When the pressure setting is correct, tighten locknut
