Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Inspect Harness and Connectors for Damage and Ensure All Connections are Properly Seated
A. Confirm that engine ECM pins are not bent, pushed back or missing.
B. Ensure that all connections are secure and free of debris.
Harness
Result: No damage found to harness and connections properly seated.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Result: There is damage to the harness.
Repair: Replace the damaged harness.
2. Measure Resistance
A. Place key switch in off position and measure resistance between the terminals on the PCV and the chassis ground using an insulation resistance test (megohmmeter tester).
PCV
Result: 10 MΩ or higher.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
Result: Not 10 MΩ or higher.
Repair: Replace high pressure (supply) pump. The PCV is not serviceable.
3. Inspect the Connections
A. Place key switch in off position and unplug each fuel injector harness connector. Inspect each connection.
B. Measure the resistance between the terminals on the PRV and the chassis ground with a resistance tester (megohmmeter tester).
PRV
Result: Not 10 MΩ or higher
Repair: Replace complete rail assembly. PRV is not a serviceable part.
