Parts Required
The following chart is for ordering the total parts required for an Engine Vision display module installation. Refer to the individual topics for the specific parts (and quantities) required for each particular installation. Items and quantities will vary according to the installation options chosen. Engine Vision System Support Software
Support for Engine Vision is contained in the engine ECM software. When installing Engine Vision in a vessel with a 3176B, 3408C or 3412C Caterpillar electronic engine, the engine software must be updated to the Personality Module or Flash File shown below (or newer). Software part numbers for the correct Personality Module update for the engine installation that support Engine Vision are listed in the table below. Engine Vision System Overview
Engine vision is a computer based monitoring and display system that offers unmatched performance and flexibility to marine vessel owners. The rugged/hardened PC platform is directly powered from the vessel 24 VDC battery source and will withstand the harsh environment often found in marine applications.Engine Vision displays current information on temperatures, pressures and levels. Optional information screens are scrolled using touch screen technology. The multicolored display provides excellent visibility in various light conditions and is readable in direct sunlight conditions. A self contained backlight with dimming knob is included for night visibility.A single Engine Vision System can monitor and display data for up to three engines simultaneously to reduce console space and maximize information gathering. Information is transferred from the ECM to the display module through the two-wire high speed Caterpillar Data Link.Engine Configuration
The One time Configuration Menu will be displayed when the Engine Vision display is initialized at the first powerup. This menu is used to select the appropriate engine family for the installation. Once the engine family is selected and confirmed, the Engine Vision display will prompt the installer to cycle power to the system (key OFF, then key ON again).Engine Vision Version 2.0 Software
This update contains the Caterpillar Engine Vision Update utility program (Update.exe), the Engine Vision Customization utility program (EVbuild.exe), an installation program (install.bat), and the data files for all Engine Vision supported engines. These are 3196, 3406E, and 3500B Marine Engines (two engine applications) and the 3176B, 3408C, and 3412C Marine Engines (two and three engine applications)Display Features
Gauge Display
Engine Vision has multiple screens to display all engine operating data with the Tachometer as the dominant gauge in each screen.The Engine Vision System display screen contains the analog style gauge cluster for single or multiple engine installations, along with digital value readouts of each respective gauge. Each multicolored gauge includes a region.
