Do not let any dirt or foreign material get into the hydraulic system during assembly, connection of lines, when components are filled with fluid or during any maintenance operation. Clean all paint, dirt, or rust from all ripper mounting surfaces.
The machine must be equipped with a 153 Hydraulic Control Arrangement. See Form SMHS6816 for installation instructions. (1) Remove drawbar (1) and all the studs from the bevel gear case. Remove cover (2) and serial number plate (3). Remove the paint and all foreign material from the bevel gear case. (2) Install two 5K8687 Studs (4); tighten to 170 20 lb.ft. (230 25) torque; four 2S3390 Studs (5) and four 7D4512 Studs (6); tighten to 110 15 lb.ft. (150 20) torque; and eight 6D1915 Studs (7); tighten to 70 10 lb.ft. (95 14) torque. (3) Remove the former 65° grease fittings (in each roller frame diagonal brace) and install two 3B8490 fittings (8) (straight). Put drawbar assembly (9) in position under the tractor and install four 1D4629 Bolts and 9H1031 Washers. Do not tighten these bolts at this time. Put a 3K1516 Seal in the groove on the front side of 9J6214 Plate Assembly (10); use 1P808 Lubricant to hold the seal in the groove. Install plate (10) on the studs. Install 1P3819 Bracket (11), eight 2J3506 Nuts (12) and 2S115 Washers. Install 3K9770 Nuts (13) and 4K684 Washers; tighten to 1250 120 lb.ft. (1690 160) torque. Install eight 2J3507 Nuts (14) and 7M9650 Washers; tighten to 850 85 lb.ft. (1150 115) torque. Install 4K3927 Shims (15) as needed to keep a .06" .015" (1.5 .4) gap between drawbar (9) and plate (10). Install four 1D4637 Bolts (16) and 7M9650 Washers; tighten to 850 85 lb.ft. (1150 115) torque. Tighten drawbar (9) bolts. (4) Put link assembly (17) in position on plate (10) and install two 9J9689 Pins (18) and 2H6488 Bolts (19) with 1K6872 Lock Nuts. Connect 8J7130 Carriage Assembly (20) to link (17) with two 9J9598 Pins (21) and 3B5325 Cotter Pins. Install links (22) with 2K6563 Pins (23), 2K6562 Pins (24) and 3B5325 Cotter pins. (5) Install hydraulic cylinder (25) with 3K7845 Pin (26) and 2K4683 Pin (27). Install 1D4572 Bolt (28) and 1K6872 Nut. Install 2K703 Bar (29) with two S1621 Bolts and 3B4508 Lockwashers. Install a 3B8489 Fitting in pins (18), (21), (23), (24) and (26). (6) Remove the plugs from tubes (30) and (31) and from cylinder (25). Connect 8J7051 Hose Assembly (32) between tube (30) and the rod end of cylinder (25). Connect 8J7051 Hose Assembly (33) between tube (31) and the head end of cylinder (25). Install 1L4684 Clamps (34) with an S1594 Bolt and 1D4717 Nut. Operate the ripper hydraulic circuit to limits of the rod travel to remove the air from the system.
