0R9264 Remanufactured Cylinder Heads need to beinspected and removed from dealer parts stock if they are found defective.ACTION REQUIRED
Cylinder heads with package date codes of April1, 2001 or later are OK and do not need to be inspected.
Explanation of date coding:The date code is located on the tamper resistantpart number label attached to the box.The date code is formatted as DDMMYYXXX (forexample: a box marked with a date code of 1512980HL would indicate a partmanufactured on December 15th, 1998 at plant number 0HL).
Check for bore miss-alignment:
Using a new or used 197-6980 Pre-chamber assembly,place the assembly in the pre-chamber bore of the head and verify thatthe pre-chamber tip goes through the pre-chamber annulus. If a miss-alignmentsituation is encountered, the pre-chamber assembly will not go completelythrough on the combustion side of the head.
Check for pre-chamber insert improperly assembled:
In isolated instances during the assemblyprocess of the pre-chamber insert, the insert may have been installed tiltedand as a result a leak may occur during operation.SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all Remanufactured CylinderHeads removed from dealer parts stock. Dealers may claim 1/2 hour labor perhead for performing the inspections required.PARTS DISPOSITION
All dealers are to make sure the outsideof the shipping container is marked PI70025.***** U.S. and Canadian Dealers *****Any parts removed from parts stock should bereturned in your next core shipment. PLEASE IGNORE THE NORMAL 15 DAY HOLDINGPERIOD REQUIREMENT. All parts returned must be accompanied by a Core CreditRequest (CCR) form and should be marked "warranty". This will ensure 100%core credit for the returned parts.
