13. Remove seals (15) and oil director (14) if necessary from the carrier assembly. 14. Remove bolts (16) that hold gear (17) to the wheel. Remove gear (17). 15. Remove carrier (18) from the wheel. Remove the ring that holds the bearing in position in the carrier. 16. Remove the bearing from the carrier with tooling (A). 17. Remove ring (19). Remove turbine (20) from housing (21). 18. Turn housing (21) over. Remove two pins (22). Put ring (23) under compression and remove gear (24). Remove ring (23). 19. Install two 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws in flange assembly (25). Make a separation of the flange assembly from the housing.20. Remove the flange assembly. 21. Remove seal (27) from the flange assembly.22. Remove the two bearings (26) from the flange assembly with tooling (B). 23. Remove the housing from the turbine. 24. Remove six bolts (28) from retainer (29).25. Remove the retainer from the housing. 26. Remove ring (30) that holds bearing (31) in position. 27. Remove the bearing from the housing with tooling (C).Assemble Torque Divider
Before assembling the torque divider, a measurement of certain clearances must be made if the torque divider is to operate with efficiency.1. Check the clearance between the turbine and stator as follows: a) Put stator (3) in position in turbine (2). Hold the stator against one side of the turbine and use a feeler gauge (1) to find the clearance between the stator and the turbine.b) The clearance across the diameters between the stator and the turbine must be .012 to .018 in. (0.30 to 0.46 mm). Check the clearance at four points on the turbine. The maximum permissible clearance across the diameters is .030 in. (0.76 mm).c) The running clearance is one half of the clearance across the diameters between the stator and the turbine. The running clearance must be .006 to .009 in. (0.15 to 0.23 mm). The maximum permissible running clearance is .015 in. (0.38 mm).2. Check the clearance between the impeller and stator as follows: a) Using an outside diameter micrometer (4), make a measurement of the diameter of the stator flange at four points on stator. Make a record of the lowest reading. b) Using an inside diameter micrometer (6), make a measurement of the inside diameter of outer edge of flange on impeller (5) at four points. Make a record of the highest reading.c) The clearance across the diameters between the impeller and stator is the difference between the highest reading on impeller and the lowest reading on stator. The clearance must be .009 to .015 in. (0.23 to 0.38 mm). Maximum permissible clearance across the diameters is .024 in. (0.61 mm).d) The running clearance is one half of the measurement made across the diameters. Running clearance must be .0045 in. to .0075 in. (0.114 to 0.191 mm). Maximum permissible running clearance is .012 in. (0.30 mm). 3. Install snap ring on bearing. Install bearing in housing with tooling (A). 4. Put retainer (7) in
