Use Tooling (G) in order to clean the shaft assembly and the counterbore in the housing.
Use Tooling (D) in order to install oil seal (2) into the water pump housing. Install the oil seal with the part number toward the housing. Ensure that the oil seal is flush with the housing. Do not lubricate the seal.
Install inner bearing (5) onto shaft assembly (8) .
Install shaft assembly (8) into water pump housing (9) .
Use Tooling (B) in order to install retaining ring (7) .
Use a suitable press with Tooling (E) in order to install water seal (10) onto shaft assembly (8). Install the water seal with the part number Upward. Ensure that the water seal is flush against the pump housing. Do not lubricate the seal.
Use a suitable press in order to install impeller (11) onto shaft assembly (8). The impeller should be flush with the top of the shaft assembly.
Use a suitable press in order to install gear (6). Install the gear to a height of 29.3 mm (1.15 inch). Use Tooling (F) in order to measure Dimension "A".
Install bearing (5). Ensure that the bearing is flush with the gear.
Install hex washer (1) and hex socket head bolt (4).
Install a new gasket and the cover. Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 18 3 N m (13 2 lb ft).
Install a new gasket and the elbow assembly that connects the water pump to the radiator. Install a new gasket and the elbow assembly that connects the water pump to the engine oil cooler.End By: Install the water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Install".
