ReferenceSpecial Instruction, SEBF8095, "Reuse and Salvage Guidelines"The 144-0803 Front Wheel is used on the 192-5826 Wheel, Brake and Suspension Group and the 250-3930 Wheel, Brake and Suspension Group .Wear has been reported in the spline on the 144-0803 Front Wheels. The wear in the spline on the front wheel was caused by the spline on the brake discs. This problem was reported on machines JSM229-383.Due to the manufacturing process, the edge on some of the brake discs was serrated. The hardness of the teeth and the serrations on the teeth can cause premature wear to the spline in the front wheel. The discs have a date code of JAN07 through SEP07.Refer to Special Instruction, SEBF8064, "Reuse and Salvage Guidelines" when you inspect the front wheels. If the parts do not meet the reuse and salvage guidelines, replace the front wheel. Do not install friction discs on the machine that have a date code of JAN07 through SEP07.For field maintenance, the 144-0803 Front Wheel has been cancelled and replaced by the 351-6652 Front Wheel and related brake discs. The machines JSM484-UP have a new design that uses the larger spline on a separated hub. The 266-3612 Hub is the separated hub.The new 351-6652 Front Wheel has larger splines that hold the brake discs. The larger spline lowers the stress on each tooth.When you install the new 351-6652 Front Wheel in place of a 144-0803 Front Wheel, you must install new friction discs on the machine because of the change in the size of the spline.If the machine was equipped with the 145-5185 Friction Discs, install ten new 270-9293 Friction Discs on each front wheel.If the machine was equipped with the 207-1265 Friction Discs for extended life, install ten 291-2902 Friction Discs on each front wheel.
