--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Description of Change: The oil capacity specification for all turbocharged 3208 Marine Engines (1Z) has been changed. The new specification is 15 liters (16 quarts, 13.5 Imperial quarts). Formerly, the specification was 17 liters (18 quarts, 15 Imperial quarts). Refilling the engine to the former specification resulted in slight overfilling. Oil level dipsticks for marine engines are calibrated by dealers. Although they were calibrated correctly, the dipsticks indicated that refilling to former specifications overfilled the turbocharged engines, causing some confusion in the field.
Adaptable To: The new specification is in effect with Serial No. 1Z4850, but it may be used for all turbocharged 3208 Marine Engines. The following charts and illustration show the correct calibration of the oil level dipsticks for both naturally-aspirated and turbocharged engines. A turbocharged engine uses approximately one liter (.9 quart, .7 Imperial quart) more oil than a naturally-aspirated engine, but the additional oil is used in the larger cooler and filters.
The tilt angles shown in the chart relate to the attitude of the engine. A positive angle indicates that the front of the engine is raised.
