Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "General Information (Reference Material)" for more information.
Put the gasket and the O-ring seals in position on the rear of the cylinder block.
Trim the gasket that is located between the rear housing and the cylinder block. Trim this gasket even with the bottom of the cylinder block.
Apply Tooling (B) to the engine oil pan and replace the section of the gasket for the engine oil pan. Apply Tooling (C) to the top of the section of the new gasket. Apply Tooling (C) to the intersection of the cylinder block, engine oil pan, and rear housing. Tooling (C) will assist with installation of the rear housing.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to the top of rear housing (2). The weight of rear housing (2) is approximately 210 kg (465 lb).
Place rear housing (2) in position on the cylinder block. Install bolts (1) that hold rear housing (2) in place.
Install the bolts that hold the engine oil pan to the rear housing.End By:
Install the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Install".
Install the camshaft drive gear. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft Drive Gear - Install".
Install the barring group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Barring Group - Remove and Install".
Install the starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Starting Motor - Install".
Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install".
