Apply Tooling (B) to the mating surfaces of the trunnions and the frame of the machine. Attach a suitable lifting device to rear axle assembly (12). The weight of rear axle assembly (12) is approximately 20,411 kg (45,000 lb). The suitable lifting device should be fastened around the housing for the service brake, as shown. This will prevent rear axle assembly (12) from rotating when rear axle assembly (12) is raised. Raise rear axle assembly (12) into position.

Apply Tooling (B) to new bolts (14). Install bolts (14) that secure the front trunnion to the frame of the machine. Do NOT reuse the old bolts.

Apply Tooling (B) to new bolts (13). Install bolts (13) that secure the rear trunnion to the frame of the machine. Do NOT reuse the old bolts.
Tighten bolts (13) and (14) in an alternating sequence to a torque of 1600 200 N m (1180 148 lb ft). Then, turn bolts (13) and (14) for an additional 120 degrees.

Connect hose assemblies (8), (9), (10), and (11).

Connect grease hose assemblies (6) and (7) to the top of the rear trunnion.

Connect grease hose assemblies (4) and (5) to the top of the front trunnion.

Use Tooling (A) to raise the end of rear drive shaft (1) into position. Connect rear drive shaft (1) to yoke assembly (3). Install bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 530 70 N m (390 52 lb ft). Remove the suitable rope or wire that was used to secure yoke assembly (3) to the front trunnion of the rear axle assembly.End By:
Install the rear tires. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim - Remove and Install".
Purge the air from the brake system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Brake System Air- Purge".
Separate the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Remove the front wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
